POKOTABI / PLACES WORTH A DETOUR
丸っ子 鶴見店
This Tsurumi branch offers a range of options, from rich tonkotsu and yuzu salt ramen to abura soba and tsukemen. Make a meal of it with fried rice or karaage on the side.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
For a bowl that reflects Marukko Turumi’s style, try Kotteri: a rich tonkotsu broth seasoned with a secret soy sauce tare. Diners have described it as so thick that it coats the spoon, while others found it surprisingly easy to eat despite expecting a deeply rich flavour. One diner who tried the tonkotsu soy ramen also called it rich and full-flavoured, making it an option for anyone in the mood for something hearty.
For something different, the yuzu salt ramen is described as fragrant with yuzu and topped with tender chashu pork. Kake shoyu is a simpler choice, with green onion as its only topping. There are also bowls with seasoned egg or chashu, so you can stick with the basic flavour and choose toppings to suit your taste. Abura soba, mixed vigorously before eating, features a sauce made with several spices and chewy, flat noodles containing wholegrain flour. Choose a regular portion of 180g, a large portion of 270g or a tera portion of 360g. The seafood-and-tonkotsu tsukemen is available in regular 180g, large 270g and tera 360g portions; it is not available hot-served, and extra noodles are not offered.
Fried rice or karaage makes an easy addition to a ramen meal. Visitors have ordered tonkotsu soy ramen with a karaage set, or paired Kotteri with fried rice, karaage and gyoza. One diner described the karaage as juicy and the fried rice as gently seasoned. Another ordered only fried rice and karaage, without ramen, so the sides can also take centre stage.
Marukko Turumi’s Tsurumi branch is in Yokozutsumi, Tsurumi Ward, Osaka City. Lunch and dinner menus are listed, and the available information also describes it as suitable for solo dining.
